Past contributions from our members and friends demonstrate support and understanding of the importance of ACT’s work. They know the value of open space for all—human, animal, and plant. They understand the vital role protected space plays in keeping our air clean, our water safe, and our habitats diverse. They believe it is their job to preserve a natural legacy for future generations.
Thanks to the support of hundreds of Acton families, ACT has helped to preserve more than 330 acres in recent years, and more are in the pipeline. Most recently we helped to preserve the iconic property at 549 Main Street (at the corner of Brook Street) using Community Preservation Act funds at last year’s Town Meeting. This adds 56 acres of permanently protected open land and provides perpetual access to a major portion of the Isaac Davis Trail.
This year we hope to complete another ambitious project to preserve the 33 acre “Wetherbee Woods.” Considered the “agricultural gateway to Acton,” it is bordered by Wetherbee Street, the Rt. 2 farm fields and the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. It also would complete the preservation of the Nashoba Brook corridor. Stay tuned for updates on this project.
