Acton hopes to conserve 33 acres of woods off Wetherbee Street. ACT has been working with the landowner and the town toward this goal. On April 21, the day before Earth Day 2024, ACT will be clearing a viewing trail on the property (about a mile long), so that we can tour the public through this beautiful piece of land and introduce them to its many historical and natural features. We will have walks for the public at a future time.
Here is a short news article about the property: https://actonconservationtrust.org/opportunity-to-purchase-wetherbee-woods/
We would love your help with this effort. Most of the work can be done with pruning shears or clippers, with some small tree removal needed. Family groups, scout groups, students and everyone else is welcome. No experience needed – we’ll show you what needs to be done.
- Wear: Boots or sturdy shoes, long sleeves and pants, spray for ticks, mosquitos!
- Bring: leather or cloth work gloves, bypass pruning shears or clippers, and sunscreen. If you don’t have these items, we will have some extra tools and loaner gloves available.
- Expect: Weedy, rocky, wet and uneven terrain.
- We’ll have water and refreshments.
Location: 35 Wetherbee St, Acton MA (Click here for directions) and park on the west side of the road in front of the cornfield.
Please Register HERE. You’ll be emailed a copy of this registration. Don’t forget to fill out the required release form.
- Students, you may register for parents and siblings, but not for your friends, so we have contact information for each person if needed.
- Forward this Google Form to anyone who is interested!
- Scouts may sign up as a troop as long as there is at least one contact willing to send information on to each person planning to attend. Thank you!
